Lets get main point 1 out of the way: IT IS NOT A REMAKE OF THE FIRST GAME! Yes, ok, we have Harry who crashes a car and goes on a chase to find his missing daughter Cheryl. And that is were the similarity stops, with the main exception of names being used, eg. Lisa and Dahlia and Dr Kaufmann. ( on a side note, I have never played the original Silent Hill)

Now. . There is no fighting whatsoever in this game. NOTHING!! And let me tell you this, as much as you hate a boss fight, you really miss it when there aint one. And that said, there is not health drinks either.  So yes there are times when the world freezes over and funny looking monsters chase you around jumping you and dragging you to the ground. And let me tell you, running around for 10min in circles being chased by them is not fun. Yes. . I actually ran in circles during the one ‘nightmare’ as it is called. It’s a good thing I did not play this on WII as I am sure a remote would have ended up in a TV.  SO anyway. . They do damage to you over time, and logically you start limping and consequently run even slower, giving them more time to jump you. *HATE* There are about 9 chase scenes, which non of them are really long or overly complicated. Oh, you have a iPhone with a map, which is USELESS in a chase scene as you walk when using it. Hallo, problem here? I think so.

Point said, this game would probably be fun on a WII since ‘doing’ the actual movements to pull out pins and open jackets and draws could be fun, but hardly enough to save the game. The puzzles, since that is what I guess they are, are easy enough for a 3year old to figure out, no I am serious here. Granted, having a phone and calling all the random numbers you see through the game was quite fun.

So lets also point out the fact that during every other minute of the game not spent running in crazy circles, you are in NO danger whatsoever to speak of, you can run and walk in pure ease, knowing you are quite safe. Alright, fine, there were maybe one or two point the developers manage to get you a bit scared.

Then, every now and then you end up in Dr Kaufmann’s office during a psychology session, which to me was probably the most fun in the game. Doing anything from a questionnaire, colouring in (yay) and answering true or false questions. It is also your answers to these ‘activities’ that will predict your ending, with the slight help of what you stare at while running around looking for Cheryl. The people and dialog also change very slightly during the game and some of their cloths will change.  About 3/4 into the game your cloths will change, and will give you a slight hint to what ending you might get. I was truthful with my answers first time around, and ended up with the ‘Drunk Dad’ ending. . . o.O Right. . . Ok. There are two parts to your ending, and I have yet to figure out what predicts/decides the one half, since I have managed to get two of the three, not having done any drastic changes to my first play through, except those to force one of the  4 main endings. (fyi – if that explanation didn’t make sense, I didn’t want to spoil anything, play the game to figure it out or go read it up elsewhere )

So ultimately  my feeling about the game? I would give it a good solid 6.5/10. I had fun playing it, its nothing like the old Silent Hill games, its easy and less scary, but was fun and had a rather fun twist at the end, which I had a very good inkling about before I got there. It is also the only Silent Hill game I have 100% figured out after playing it. . Well on the second play through. And of which I am also proud of!! ^_^ (always so confused after a Silent Hill game) So yes, I would say play it. It wont ruin the franchise for you, just keep open minded when playing it, and kind off picture it as a ‘game of its own’

Growing up with no friends have never been easy, nor is it a fate that I wish on any child. That type of rejection is not meant for such a young person. Being with friends is what helps us shape who we are. Walking day by day on school grounds watching other children play, having fun, always wondering what it is that you are lacking, wondering why it is that nobody likes you even before they have even met you. You eventually just sit at the side watching others, staring, dreaming, hoping. Are you a bad person? Hate and rejection fills your heart to cover up the sadness that you are experiencing. And then alas, the day comes that someone befriends you. Oh, the fun you two have together. Just the two of you, and that is more than enough. You are not alone anymore in this world. You joke, make fun and get into trouble, what more can you ask for. And then, that just isn’t enough for the other person anymore. Your not enough. And as always, you loose the battle, and you find yourself standing alone on some piece of ground wondering what it was that you did wrong again. And so you continue your lonely walk in and out each grade.

You meet some people that eventually feels sorry for you, but accepting you into their circle is not acceptable. You’re just not enough. You have never been enough. And thus at the end of primary school, you have your invisible seal of surviving, coming out the other side in one piece. You feel triumphant on one side, cause unlike the other children, you made it on your own, with no ones help. And it made you a stronger person, an independent person.

It seems high school had different plans for you. You meet friends, and they accept you, and you finally know what happiness really feels like. It was not just one friend, but four. They accepted you. They finally took the time to get to know who you are. You never have to walk the cold, endless corridors alone. In every class you know there will be someone waiting for you. When the bell rings for break, there will be a couple of warming smiles waiting for you as you come rushing down the stairs. There are warm hearts to talk endless amounts of ‘stuff’ to. Well until a simple sentence, said mindlessly, you loose the trust of those friends, get rejected once again, and shunned from those people who you came to love. But it was also that event that brought you to your next set of friends, two of them, guys. And they accepted you without a second glance. Your happiness was restored. With them more certainty came that you can be with them who you really want to be. It was through these two guys you had the fortunate pleasure to meet more and more people, and your group grew. A tiny circle became a group. A group of friends that were there everyday, a group to laugh and cry with, to get into trouble and out of it with. You helped spread lies, and also helped stop them. Bonds were formed. These groups of people would bring you much happiness and much sadness in years to come.

And was with them that you came to realise that nothing lasts forever. And so school came to an end, and with that end, the end of some of the bonds came as well. But still, the most important people was still there with you. They would never leave. So ignorant one can be when you are so young. They all left, in one way or another. Some more than others. With time contact gets less and eventually stops.

Making friends don’t come easy to every one. Living through the rejection you had to at such a young age, even less. But life gave this girl another opportunity. A job. A place where many people came in and out everyday. It was within this place she found new people. New friends. She was content just being around them. They were her happiness. They were everything to her. They were the reason to rush to work, to bother coming out of the house. They were it. They were what she has been looking for. But life said no to her. Again. The job was over. And she just were not ‘it’ to them. She was not important enough to keep in touch with. All but except to one of them. One out of the bunch found her important enough to keep close. And that meant that she will not be alone. Not again. There existed a person who did not judge her or toss her to the side. She was happy.

Fights would break out between her and these old friends. To her they meant more than the world, and she wanted to keep them. She refused to accept that they were not worth the fight, worth the effort. In between them all there seemed to be another guy who would give her the time of day. And she fell in love with him. In was stupid and unpractical, but she did. And these two friends stood by her through intense heart ache, fights and pain. Made her see the reason for living when she no longer did. But time had another plan. One of them softly disappeared. He never went away entirely. He still lurks there. But just. And with him half her heart went as well. Pushing him away and being horrible to him has been one of the hardest things she has had to do in her life. He would never understand. He would never understand what he means to her. But she can’t fight anymore. Fighting has never gotten her anywhere. It just helped her loose her friends all the more faster. Friendship is a two way street. And she has learnt that she can’t make a friendship run all on her own. She can’t do the caring for two people. It just helps her burn out all the faster. She knows this, with a broken heart. She has lived the disappointment from friends many times over.  Maybe she has picked the wrong type of people in her live?

She happened to walk into an old ‘friend’ the one day. One who has ignored her for many weeks. Ignored her very existence. And on this fateful day he walked up to her to hug and greet her, and just there she decided to talk to him. She already lost him so what more can she loose? He helped her realise something that day. Made her understand something. It wasn’t an excuse for the behaviour of her old friends, but just pointing a new light on ‘the subject’ as they would say. It had to be her lucky day as she got her money from him that he owed her for 10 months now. As she walked out of the mall she smiled. A triumphant smile of sorts, but also a sad one. For as the realisation came that she got her money back, she has lost yet another friend.

So as the situation stands, this girl is not alone. She has friends and probably only one good friend. Only one that has refused to run way. And for that she is grateful beyond words, and cares for this person very much. But deep down on some level she is still alone, just like all those years ago. There are just some holes that not even time can fill.
